Dr Thomas McKillop

Bachelor of Health Science
Bachelor of Applied Science (Osteopathy)
Graduate Diploma of High Performance Sport
I am an osteopath with a singular focus that drives me every day. People. With a deep commitment to lifting my patients up to achieve their best, I am dedicated to helping individuals overcome injuries that hold them back. Growing up in Sorell and recently moving back to the community I want to give back to the community by helping people with my approach that combines my expertise in osteopathy with my knowledge in exercise rehabilitation, providing a truly unique pathway to injury management.
I believe in empowering my patients through education, taking the time to ensure they understand their condition and are actively engaged in a comprehensive plan to alleviate pain and restore function. Recognizing that no two people are the same, I tailor each assessment and management strategy to the unique needs and goals of each individual. My areas of clinical interest include ankle and knee injuries, lower back pain and headaches.
I am trained in a range of management strategies, including manual therapy, exercise rehabilitation, dry needling and strength and conditioning. I have several years of experience in private practices across Queensland, Tasmania, and Victoria, and I have also worked with elite sports teams and athletes across the AFL, NRL, ATP tennis tour, and Gymnastics Australia.
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is an allied healthcare profession that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of musculoskeletal problems, while also supporting overall health and wellbeing. Osteopaths complete a five-year university double degree, which combines in-depth human biology, anatomy, physiology and western medicine knowledge with hands-on manual therapy techniques.
The goal of osteopathy is to restore proper movement, reduce pain, improve function, and support the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Osteopaths can help people with a wide range of conditions, including back and neck pain, joint injuries, sports injuries, headaches, postural imbalances, and chronic pain.
During an osteopathy session, patients can expect a thorough history of their health and condition, an assessment and testing of their movement and biomechanics, and hands-on treatment such as soft tissue therapy and joint mobilisation, and guidance on rehabilitation exercises and lifestyle adjustments.
